Winter hotel promotions?
I’m anticipating spending 7 nights in a hotel the last week of December and I cannot change the dates… I think this is when all the major chain promotions will be over.
If I could choose a mid-level hotel in any of the major chains, which one do you think has a better record of offering promotions around December? I notice in 2015 many of them offered promotions around January 15, and I know there are cycles to everything. So am I just out of luck and will be staying over a global promotion dead zone? Thanks.
Marriott MegaBonus runs through January 15, 2017. Hilton Double Points runs through December 31st, 2016. Can’t speak for other chains as I don’t stay there regularly. I think you might be in luck.
Was there a specific chain you’re considering?

I wouldn’t get anything with the Marriott one since I would neither have 2 stays or 10 nights. Unfortunately.
Wasn’t aware of the Hilton one, thanks, but it’s a hotel chain I haven’t really invested in/don’t have their credit cards, etc.
I love IHG and Hyatt but their fall promotions end before my stay.
If there are two Marriotts in your destination area you could split your hotels to get two stays?
@Mongolianhippo what area are you traveling to? Sometimes they’ll do local area specific promotions that don’t get as much press because they are so hyper focused. You should check out the special offers page on each website and see what’s available.
Also, if you’re willing to forgo the hotel points and/or elite benefits (if you have), it could be worth looking at RocketMiles to use it as an opportunity to top off an airline account instead.
@rickyw Niagara Falls, NY.
I looked through a few chain’s local offers and didn’t see any good ones. And it seems unless I stay over in Buffalo, NY, I’ll be paying for parking every night.
Ouch, yeah I just did a dummy search and that parking could add up for a whole week. You could look at doing Guarav’s suggestion and split between two hotels. You could stay one night at the Falls, and then head to Buffalo for the remainder. That would qualify as two stays and you’d hit Marriott MegaBonus.
