What to do with AA

What to do with AA

Lucky, i have been exec plat with @Americanair for many years, and gold with United, philly being a hub for AA its tough to change. I applied to Delta for a status match as i will renew at exec plat by end of july, is this smart? Should i just put up with bad aircraft bad service and aggravation? Or is going to be much better on Delta?

I believe it depends on your flying patterns. I’m AA EXP and this year I’ve been taking some Delta long haul flights. My itineraries are all international with domestic positioning flights in business class and first. I’ve yet to fall in love with Delta and find my international flights on AA to be a bit better for schedule and, in most cases, hard product. If I were flying all domestic routes, I might have a different opinion. On price, sometimes AA is better and sometimes Delta is better. The frequent flyer program on AA is better, at least as I write. If you read the comments on the AA and DL forums of FlyerTalk, passengers complain constantly about both airlines. It’s truly a YMMV situation IMO. If you’re really disillusioned with AA then just do it – take the challenge and see what happens. Personally, I haven’t found the DL Utopia everyone talks about when bashing AA.

Where do you fly? I am in a similar boat. I was Chairmans and now EXP for the last 5 or 6 years. Domestically I fly to BOS, GSO, LAX and SFO most frequently. I am considering a status match with Delta (because I can fly into RDU). And consider flying Alaska to LAX and SFO. But AA’s schedules (5x or 6x to LAX and 4x to SFO) trump AS’s schedule and times are much better. Delta used to fly to Paris and seasonally to Heathrow (I think), but have dropped both from PHL. The fact is that for those of us in PHL (or CLT), AA is the best. Sad, but true.
