VIRGIN VELOCITY POINTS

VIRGIN VELOCITY POINTS

1. Diana New Member

Hi, we are getting married this November and wishing to use our points for flights from Australia to the USA for our honeymoon.
It would be amazing to fly business class on such a long haul flight (& extra special for our honeymoon too).
With Virgin Velocity points, we are unable to purchase an economy class fare and use points to upgrade. This is only allowed on Virgin when you are on a high tier of Velocity membership.
My fiancee currently has 96,000 points and I have 80,000.
We would like to:-

Depart Brisbane, Australia & fly into either LAX, San Fran or NY on the 27th or 28th November 2017
Depart LAX to Brisbane on 21st or 22nd December 2017.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks 😀

hi @Diana, welcome, and congratulations on the upcoming wedding! This is going to be tough unfortunately. You can see Virgin Australia redemption prices at https://www.velocityfrequentflyer.com/content/Redeem/Airlines/PointsTables/. One way in economy is 44,800 miles and business is 95,500 miles to LAX. You are also looking to return at one of the busiest travel times of the year as people leave for vacations and family events. I would look at paid options to see if you can find something that works for you. Or if you can find bump your balance up you could also look for economy redemptions. Be aware that the points needed will go up if you have to add connections so realistically a cash ticket might be your best option to lock in plans.
