UA Mileage Run

UA Mileage Run

    Hi All,

I am aware that UA shifted to a revenue-based scheme however I was wondering if I could get around that by booking through a star alliance partner and having the eTicket issued with Lufthansa’s 712 instead of United’s 016.

    Is that possible?

    Thanks,
    Alex

Yes, assuming you are aiming for redeemable miles and not elite status qualification.

If you book through Lufthansa, you would still earn based on distance flown, but you wouldn’t earn any PQDollars – thus, making it hard to earn/maintain United status.

I think that if you’re a non-US member of United MileagePlus, there isnt a PQD requirement. Not sure if that has changed.
