TSA “pattern check” on Real ID

TSA “pattern check” on Real ID

  1. Juliehm7 New Member

At TSA, the agent inserted my Real ID drivers license into a reader (rather than just looking at my face and picture). The reader kept spitting it out. She told me it was calling for a “pattern check.” What is that?

    No idea.
But everyone reading this needs to make sure they have either their REAL ID or their Passport after October 2020. (need to get mine)

Or a Global Entry photo ID card.

I’ve asked more than once (just to make sure I wasn’t getting misinformation) at TSA checkpoints if a Global Entry card will work. And I’ve used my GE card as ID multiple times at PHL, LAX, and ORD with no problem.

Not that I won’t get a Real ID driver’s license at some point. And most (all?) who have GE also have a passport. But it is one more form of valid ID.

@OCTinPHL. I have GE but do not have a photo ID card. I have a sheet of paper claiming GE number etc…… but, Is that something new? A GE Photo ID Card?

No, I got a GE photo card the first time I was approved 4+ years ago. I re-upped in November but don’t think I got a new card.

My GE expires in October so I will ask for a Photo version. (Will get a new REAL ID, as well.)

Definitely worth it (there is no additional cost).
+1 on what MidSouthSkier said – I received mine 5 years ago. I am not sure if they’ve done away the cards entirely?
