Time window – Checked luggage in connect flights AA

Time window – Checked luggage in connect flights AA

I wonder if 50 minutes is enough to transfer check luggage from one plane to the other. This would be a connecting flight in DFW going to MIA.

I almost never check luggage so I don’t have a lot of experience.

It’s a legal connection so it should be possible. Of course it depends on if your flight into DFW is on time or not. If your luggage misses the connection AA is responsible for getting your luggage to you, wherever you are staying.

If you’re on separate tickets, make sure you let the check in agent know at your origin so that they can link the tickets and thru check your bag.

I think there is a new AA app that allows you to track your bags. I thought I read that somewhere. If true, at least it would give you peace of mind knowing exactly where they are at any time.

The AA app does have this feature. Came in handy for me last February when I had a tight connection in DFW and had to run for the plane. I made, my bags didn’t but at least I knew where they were and could tell they’d arrived on the next flight.

I had a 20 minute connection (due to a late arrival) at DFW back in 2006 and my checked bag and I both made the flight. I was impressed.

That was exactly my situation. I had to change terminals too. It was actually ok with me because it was two giant bags of ski gear so that meant I didn’t have to maneuver them around as the baggage delivery service took care of it for me!
