Tax Refund on Non Refundable Ticket

Tax Refund on Non Refundable Ticket

I booked a dirt cheap non refundable Iberia ticket from JFK – ZRH roundtrip.

There’s an airfare of $1.00 and a carrier charge of $130.00 and a total price of $272.09.

I’m guessing the taxes on the ticket are $141.09 (the remaining balance) but it’s not noted on the ticket.

If I cancel the ticket can I at least get a refund of the taxes? Seems like they shouldn’t be allowed to levy taxes on a ticket that I’m not flying on but nothing I find in my initial google search seems to have an answer.

I would check the T&C. I was able to do this with Norwegian once but if there is a cancellation fee it might eat up any refund.
