TA Miles&Smiles – free cabin upgrade period?

TA Miles&Smiles – free cabin upgrade period?

1. Anonymous Guest

An email sent by Turkish Airlines’ miles and smiles program tonighy includes the following paragraph:
We are sorry about flight cancellations due to travel restrictions. In order to protect your benefits as a Miles&Smiles member, we have extended the status expiration dates and free cabin upgrade period for 6 months. We also doubled purchasing limits of Status Miles. Also we double the limit of Status Miles Purchase.

As an Elite member of Turkish Airlines for the past 5 years, I do appreciate this move by TA.
However, I don’t recall any previous references to free cabin upgrades and therefore their free cabin upgrade period extension is rather puzzling.
Is this an error (as in the last two lines of the paragraph) or a new pollicy? Or do they only refer to the 2 free upgrades per year awarded to E+ members?
