Sterile Airport Transfers

Sterile Airport Transfers

  1. jerefle New Member

Wondering if there is a known list of Airports/Countries with/without Sterile Airport Transfers.

Been doing research for the past hour on this and there doesn’t seem to be any solid info besides the fact that USA and Canada don’t have sterile transfers.

Maybe worth an article from the OMAAT team?

    Thanks,

@jerefle – I take it from the USA / Canada reference that you mean sterile transfer to mean not having to clear customs and immigration, as opposed to just security? (Though after clearing immigration here in the US you have to also clear security again if connecting.)

Off the top of my head, LHR, DXB and HKG come to mind. I’ve heard Panama City, Panama as well. (I have flown to/from there, just never connected.) I am guessing that many major Asian airports outside mainland China allow I-I connections without going through immigration / customs. In Asia I’ve only ever connected in HKG, PVG and PEK, and the latter two require that you clear immigration. I am sure there are others (certainly in Europe, I would think, but you have to take into account whether the flights are to/from Schengen territories or not); maybe someone else can chime in.

SIN, NRT, TPE, and AUH have sterile transfers. I’d assume DOH does as well, given that all flights in and out of DOH are international.
