SQ seat assignment

SQ seat assignment

  1. Anonymous Guest

I was wondering if anyone has a similar problem.
I booked SQ suite with miles from NRT to LAX for this December one year in advance for my honeymoon.. but now because of the switch from A380 to 777, our seat got reassigned from 3C/3D to 1A/1F.

I was disappointed that I can’t sat with my husband on our honeymoon and wrote an email asking if we can switch seats to 1C/1D but the customer service said those seats were taken.

I then sent them another email asking if it’s possible to change the date of the flight just so we can sit together, and go no response…

Did anyone have any luck on changing the date with SQ award flight with this whole plane switching situation?

I guess this is more of a disappointment rant.. but I was really looking forward to try the SQ suite, and now we can’t even sit together in F..

If you find new award availability on their website, you can make changes – its a reasonably small fee. Otherwise, I’d just keep monitoring the seats for changes.

I think this change is fairly significant that I would at least try to call to see if alternate routes might be possible without any fees. Most airlines have disclaimers about equipment but sometimes are more flexible in practice, especially if you get the right agent. I would do my research. If suites are really important to you then I would look at JFK-FRA-SIN and see if you can find any availability if your travel plans can be adjusted towards the east coast. If you are flexible on dates look at surrounding dates to see if you can find a couple of seats together. Then call, be super nice, and explain the situation and see what the agent/supervisor can offer. They are not going to change other people’s seat assignments but alternate routings or dates or requests for space to be opened should all be on the table when you make your request. Again, SQ is not required to do any of this so I would not assume that it will work but for an important trip like this I would at least call and try. Otherwise as @David W mentions, keep tracking and see what becomes available.
