SPG Lounge/Breakfast benefits

SPG Lounge/Breakfast benefits

As an SPG Platinum member, I know that automatic upgrade/access to the club/executive lounge is guaranteed. I also have the choice of choosing welcome points or breakfast/food voucher. I believe I read somewhere (can’t remember where) that hotels are supposed to provide complimentary continental breakfast at properties where no lounge exists. Is this true? It seems I can never get someone to confirm this when checking in, but when I inquire after check-in, they apologize and provide the breakfast voucher.

Additionally, if I choose the breakfast as my welcome gift, is it for the duration of your stay? This would be a very very good value and much more valuable than 500 points. It seems more likely it is only supposed to be for one time use, but I’ve had different properties treat it differently. Front desk staff seem very uninformed about the benefits or they just don’t care about honoring them.

I hate being ‘that’ guest who pushes for every last benefit, but I’ve spent enough money that I shouldn’t have to beg for benefits I’ve earned. I just want to make sure I’m properly informed.

Hah. Hotel’s just like to try and get away with not offering all the benefits.

Breakfast is daily for the duration of your stay as an SPG Platinum. If you’re having trouble, just pull up SPG’s website with the list of published benefits.
