    Hi Lucky:

    I am currently an SPG Gold member who has greatly benefited from the policy of “4pmguaranteed late checkout.” I would expect that elite benefits would be good for one calendar year (January – December 2018). With the new Marriott combined loyalty program being implemented mid-year, my Gold status provides me 2pm late checkout subject to availability.

    Would this devaluation generally be okay mid-year? I could understand if the devalued benefit of non-guaranteed late checkout was introduced in January of 2019 but it’s disappointing that the benefit is being reduced mid-year.

    Under normal circumstances, having the benefits change mid-year would probably never happen. But, with the merger this year, I think some minor changes like these were inevitable.

    If it’s at an SPG hotel, I’d email the hotel ahead of time to ask and confirm 4pm late check out due to your SP Gold status.
