Short Trip
I’m looking to go London New York in mid January. For a 24 hour trip economy class it costs about £2000 but when you make it a 3 day trip the price drops to£250 with full flexibility on all airlines. Why is it more expensive to fly for a short time and is there any way of avoiding this?
Thanks in advance!

Hi Rafi, welcome.
Is a weekend day(s) included? That may be one reason. A second related reason is that airlines usually view 1 day trips as exclusively business, so charge more. Generally, but not always, 3 day trips are also viewed as business. Especially international trips. But add in a weekend, and the price may drop significantly.
You could also try pricing it out as 2 one-way trips to see if that makes a difference.
