Shall I use my American Airlines Points?

Shall I use my American Airlines Points?

  1. Anonymous Guest

    HI Lucky,
Myself and my son are planning to fly to Delhi from Miami around March 18th and return around April 17. There are so many options on flights and flight carriers. We are both American Airlines mileage members. I have 134,000 miles and he has 35,000 miles so far. Would it be best to try and use my miles to purchase the tickets? Would that leave my only option to use British Airways? (American doesn’t have a flight there)
Or should I fly with Qatar? I am confused about this mileage stuff and best way to use it. I could always pay for this flight and try and accumulate more miles.
    Thanks!

@finzz your realistic choices heading to India are Qatar, Etihad, and BA with AA miles. If you are planning to get economy seats with your miles it will cost you 90,000 miles per RT ticket plus surcharges if you fly BA. You’ll need to have all the miles to cover the ticket in one account so that will be another issue unless you are planning to buy miles. At that point it might be best to just buy the ticket.
