SFO-MAN How to confirm hard product

SFO-MAN How to confirm hard product

  1. Matt Foley New Member

    Hi all,
I will be flying SFO-MAN in August of 2017. I am looking at redeeming either Delta/FlyingBlue/VirginAtlantic miles for a business or upper class ticket.

I understand that AF is upgrading their fleets, and that AF 83 to CDG is on the A380. How do I go about figuring out if that plane has the new business class product with lie flat seats, compared to the old product? (Has anyone flown that route and can anyone tell me if that route is upgraded yet?)

If anyone has any recommendations on what would be my best option, I’d appreciate it. I have plenty of UR/Skymiles points to cover the ticket. Right now rewards seem to be between 50-70k for one-way.

I prefer to fly long haul, so direct from SFO to somewhere in Europe, and then will connect to Manchester.

    Any thoughts/help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Hi @Matt Foley, and welcome!

I haven’t heard any announcements regarding updating the business class product on the A380, unfortunately. As far as I know only the 777s and A330s are scheduled to be reconfigured at this time.

I sadly waited too long and Upper Class on Virgin was unavailable. And I was less than thrilled with angle flats on the A380 with AF, so I decided to go with United Global First for 80k. I know people don’t aspire to fly United 1st…but… I’m excited about the upgrade to Polaris. If I understand correctly, they will not be retrofitting the 747’s so I will be on the “old” hard product first class seat. I’m ok with that. It looks like the seat is pretty nice and is fully lie flat so I should be good there.

However, I did read that I should still get all the soft product upgrades, such as better bedding, food, service etc. And I’m leaving from SFO, which is supposed to be upgrading one of their lounges to a Polaris lounge so I’m going to get there early and see what they have to offer.

    Thoughts?

This report on Air France will show you how to determine what aircraft have the new best and beyond seats.

Air France 380’s are due until sometime 2018 or later from what I’ve read. A330’s are next.
