return flights from Europe
My hubby and I are thinking of flying to Venice next Spring our of SFO, and we are hoping to use Aeroplan miles. We see lots of business class availability to Europe on various carriers, but on return flights it seems the first connection is business then the transatlantic seems to be Lufthansa economy out of one of their hubs. Is there a certain time span or trick to get business class on the transatlantic flight?
I think this is where good ol’ legwork kicks in. First find your transatlantic legs in business then build around that. Instead of looking from Europe to SFO, look for availability to ORD, IAH or YYZ and connect from there. Yes, it’s not as nice as being able to fly all the way to the west coast but one of the top rules of using miles is that you have to be flexible.
Thank you, I will do that. So it’s not a problem with Aeroplan nor United to give them options their computer does not generate?
It shouldn’t be…but I can’t speak from experience how/if the CSRs are able to maneuver around what the computer gives them and link up different flights.
