    Hi Lucky,

    Feeling a bit frustrated …

    My family of 4 was supposed to fly Aeromexico next March from ORD–> MEX –> PJU. The MEX–> PJU flight was cancelled and we were rebooked on AA. We paid for AM Plus on Aeromexico (extra $175 over basic for 4 seats) vs the basic fare. It was still a coach fare but it included ‘Premium drinks and snacks, Priority baggage handling, Extra legroom, and SkyPriority® benefits.’

    We were rebooked in coach on AA which makes sense as we had a coach ticket on Aeromexico. But if we paid a premium for AM Plus vs Basic coach, shouldn’t we get a refund for the upgrade? I tried to get a rebooking in AA Main Cabin Extra but Aeromexico won’t budge, and won’t refund me for the difference between Basic and AM Plus.

    Is there anything I can do?

    Even though it was the MEX – PJU portion that was cancelled you were also switched from Aeromexico to AA for ORD – MEX?

    Rebooked direct. No Aeromexico

    When you call Aeromexico, I’d try escalating to a supervisor. Seems pretty obvious that you should be refunded the premium.

    If it’s any consolation, you cut your travel time in half though by getting a direct flight!
