Rat in our room in Paris

Rat in our room in Paris

We stayed at a 4-star hotel in Paris two weeks ago and found a rat in our room around 5am. We researched on the web afterwards and found that the hotel has been having this problem for decade. I’m just curious how the Department of Health in France would allow something like that to happen.

Did you let the hotel know? It’s something the hotel should take care off immediately and something you might be able to request compensation for.

In addition to the Department of Health… They probably don’t read online reviews.

That’s terrible! Rodent problems are not hard to resolve and what’s worse is that this is a persistent issue at this hotel. I would write a review on TripAdvisor. A bad review is the only way to deal with these owners – it protects the rest of us from having a potentially bad experience and hurts their bottom line. Sorry you were the victim.

After seeing the mouse, we called front desk right away and got switched to a smaller room for sleeping till late morning. Then we got switched to a slightly bigger room for the next 3 days. The duty manager sent us 2 small bags of cookies, a Westin key chain and a bag of tea leaves. At check-out, we were given another key chain and 2,000 SPG points (I guess we didn’t make a scene made a difference :)) We, as Gold member complained to Starwood about the incident after we got home, then we were offered another 20,000 SPG points, which we still haven’t seen in our account yet. There are a number of reviews about this on TripAdvisor if you type in “Westin – Vendome Paris” then search by “mice”. I wish we have read them before our trip!! Hope this helps other travelers.

Ouch. I wish I’d have seen this a few days ago. Will be staying at the Westin next week…
