Question 1215

Question 1215

    Hi Lucky,

I’m holding one way business class space for two on Kenya Airways through Korean Air Skypass for travel from SEZ to JRO. I’m trying to find out what the estimated taxes and fuel surcharges may be BEFORE I transfer my Chase UR points to Skypass but the Skypass reps say they can’t tell me until they are booking the ticket, not before. I’m concerned that the taxes and fuel surcharges may not be worth it to use miles and that I could be better off just buying economy seats as it’s a fairly short flight. Any idea what I’m likely to pay for these award seats in taxes & fuel surcharges? Just an estimate would be helpful. I’m flying on Jan. 6th 2016.

    Thanks Lucky!

@ Rob — Just go to and pull up the fare. Then look at the fare breakdown. You’ll have to pay everything except the base fare.

Keep in mind Korean Air SkyPass charges the same number of miles for a one-way as for a roundtrip when redeeming on partners. It looks like you’d pay $200-250 in taxes, fees, and fuel surcharges.
