Hi Lucky! A couple of quick questions-In your previous blog post listed as “brazil madness” you detail your routing which I have cut and paste below. What is a “positioning flight,” and also did you outright purchase tickets for those routes and on which cabin? I am trying to make sense of how and why you did these trips. Thank you!!

@ ADAM — A positioning flight is when you book a ticket to somewhere so you can start a trip. So in this case I was booking cheap fares between Sao Paulo and the US, and I had to “position” myself to Sao Paulo in order to take advantage of the fares. All the Delta flights were in paid business class, while the American flights were in economy and upgraded to business class using systemwide upgrades.
