Qatar Equipment Change

Qatar Equipment Change

  1. Anonymous Guest

Lucky, My wife and I are on a paid J ticket BKK-DOH-AUH. Qatar has already done an equipment change from the A380 to 777 on the BKK-DOH leg which we were not happy about but can live with.

They are now changing the DOH-AUH leg to all economy.

QR does not want to give compensation if we keep the economy flight.

It would cause us to have a 4:45 layover in lieu of just 2:00. We also will only have two full days in AUH.

We are not flying direct as we need to be on QR in order to re-qualify for platinum.

Should we “suck it up” and fly Econ, and if we do would that effect our EQMs earned?

    Or

Should we rebook on the next F flight?

Thanks in advance for your input!

DOH-AUH is such a short flight that in general I wouldn’t have any problem with economy. I think you’d want to talk to a supervisor and ask again for some kind of compensation, maybe a voucher for a future flight. Also for your record to be notated that you should earn mileage based on your original booking class and you should get associated benefits. None of this is foolproof but if you have things documented you’ll probably have better luck if you need to follow up. Only you can decide if not potentially dealing with the hassle and getting more time in AUH is worth first class on a short flight.
