Qatar Business Travel Using AA Miles

Qatar Business Travel Using AA Miles

  1. Anonymous Guest

I do not see ANY Qatar business mileage awards using AA miles, only economy awards. Have they stopped issuing them. Keep reading about rumors of Qatar leaving One World alliance. Perhaps this is why no awards?

    On what route?

I booked an award ticket last week for business class from SIN -> DOH -> CPT for 70,000 AA miles. I often have issues with seeing award availability through AA’s website and it can be just temporary issues. It also won’t let me book through it, so I write down flight numbers and call AA to book.

I was coming here to ask just this.

I transferred a ton of TY points to Asia Miles for a QR redemption over the weekend for which there were four award seats available (flying next Feb, so bookable through CX but not AA because it’s >330 days out). The points posted Monday morning, and I went to search for that same availability and it was gone. I’ve been searching every day since and searched for days around it (for which there was also wide open availability) and it’s all gone!

Can you see the space on the BA, Qantas or JAL websites? Not sure how far in advance JAL opens their site but I know BA & QF open theirs well before AA.

If that’s directed at me vs OP, yes – I typically don’t use the AA search. I had searched and cross verified using BA & CX, and then initiated the transfer to CX. It was on BA that the # of tickets available on any given day was listed, and as I mentioned, it had been pretty widely available – at least two tickets most days leading up to and after my preferred flight date, with the exception of one date on which there were no awards and one on which there was only one seat, and on my particular date of travel there were four seats available. So strange.

Did you try calling CX? That’s the only other remedy I know of.

Given the Qatar CEO’s comments today, I wouldn’t be surprised if they have cut it off.

Was looking earlier today and it looks like a lot of the award availability is back. Might be worth checking again
