Looking for opinions!
(1) if you could choose… a 767-400 ER or a 767-300 on a long haul in Polaris Business?
(2) if you could choose….would you go via EWR or ORD outbound?
If you’re going to Europe I’d definitely go with ORD just because you have more time to sleep on the trip over. I just flew to Europe from EWR for the first time and while the airport wasn’t as bad as I’d feared, the flight just seemed so short. Plus, both of my flights that departed EWR were delayed – not that that can’t happen at ORD but I don’t think I’ve had that experience personally at ORD.
767-300 because at least some of those UA planes have the new Polaris seats (10/18 rows of business class is the new config. Old config has 6 rows on the 767-300). None of the -400s have the new seats.
And I agree with Mid South – ORD will be better so you have more time on the flight.
I dont know if this matters but does the better of the 2 Polaris lounges come into consideration? I have never been to ORD polaris. I am surre its great just like all of them seem to be..
Def. 767-300 for the polaris seats, hopefully you get that plane..
David or Octin PHL in looking at the seat maps on United foor the 767’s right now after reading this question where on the 767-300 do you board? I dont think i have ever flown a 300 b/c it looks like you board either at L1 or in the middle of Coach and i would have remembered that.. I know i have flown the 400 many times with Continental back in the day but is there no door at L2 on a 300?
Oh and Go Team i agree with david and octinPhl, go from ORD for the longer flight time man and avoid Newarkl
I’m pretty sure you’d board at L1 on either of UA’s 767 types.
You cant board in the middle of coach on their -300s, those are over-wing emergency exits.
L2 on the -400 seems way too close to the wing/engine to be used for boarding.
Had no idea about no L2 on the 300. Always thought wide bodies boarded at L2 not L1.. And you could be right on the 400 maybe i boarded from the front. i flew it 2 or 3 times at most and was over 10 years ago on Continental i guess i really cant recall

AA boards its -300s through L1. I think newer wide-bodies were designed with L2 as the primary door for boarding. (When did “turn left” first start getting used?) While there is an L1 that can be used for boarding (Cathay uses both, I believe, at some airports, on the 77W), older planes (767s in particular) were designed with L1 in mind.
I will add that I’ve boarded AA 757s (domestic and int’l configs) through both L1 and L2. Even though the 757 and 767 are from the same “family”, the layout of the 767 precludes boarding at L2 (same as on the 321).

If there is no door @ Normal L2 position is the next door down called L2 or there just is no L2 , like on the 767-300 United
For me, its all about the airport. I prefer ORD (probably because I know it better). Also, flying from ORD you’ll have more time in the jet, as others have said, which means better sleep and more time to enjoy the experience. EWR to Europe is quick.
[USER=5936]@GoTeam[/USER] – whatever option you select make sure you are getting the NEW Polaris seat. No airport trumps the new Polaris seat over the old seat in my opinion.
Not counting Delta One Suites and Polaris seats or the AA 787-9 or 77W my fav other seat is those United seats just before they are moving to Polaris. I think its BE seats but they are on the 787-8 and 9 and on the 772 prior to retro fit. I think those are the most comfortable seats but its absolutely pathetic to have 4 ppl next to each other in J. Even on the 787’s you have to sit next to someone so yes 100% go for the new Polaris seat over airport but i personally will miss the actual seats of the old United, i liked them, for the seat itself
