Points Transfer Question
Hi,
Can someone please confirm my thought process is correct? For work, I have to use a Diners Credit Card. I have 25,000 Diners Club Rewards. I need Starwood points for a future trip. Rather than converting from Diners directly to Starwood, I plan on converting Diners to Marriott to Starwood. Does this make sense to get the most points?
Diners Club Rewards 1,250 for 750 Starwood Points = 15,000 Starwood points when I covert 25,000 Diners Club Rewards.
Diners Club Rewards 1,250 for 1,500 Marriott Reward points = 30,000 Marriott Reward points when I convert 25,000 Diners Club Rewards.
Then Marriott allows you to convert Marriott Rewards to Starwood 3:1 ratio. So technically by converting Diners Club Rewards to Marriott and then to Starwood, I would get 30,000 Starwood points.
I do know that Starwood gives a 5,000 bonus when converting points but I would still obtain more points when converting to Marriott and then to Starwood.
Am I thinking correctly?
Thanks!
Sorry. I can’t seem to do basic math. The 3:1 ratio from Marriott to Starwood would only be 10,000 points so it looks like I should just transfer directly from Diners to Starwood.
