Hi Lucky,

First time to post a question but long time reader!

I am going to be 833 miles short of retaining my AA Gold status. I received the $399 offer to retain my status but feel that is a bit much for so few miles. Do you have any suggestions for a ~1,000 round trip flight I can take before the end of the year, and keep the cost under $399? My hub is PHL.

What’s your schedule like? There’s a few days coming up next week for PHL-MIA-PHL with a same day turnaround for ~$200 and 2026 EQMS. Leave PHL at 7:35am and be back by 3pm. That trip is available this Sunday for $191.

No problem. If you need something to watch on the flights I’d recommend checking out [URL=’http://www.sundance.tv/series/deutschland-83′]Deutschland 83[/URL]. I’m watching it right now and absolutely loving it. It’s in German with subtitles but if that type of thing doesn’t bother you definitely check it out. You can almost fit the whole series of 8 episodes in on your trip. You can purchase it from iTunes or Amazon or, obviously, by other means.
