Passport/NEXUS renewal question

My passport expires in June 2021, and my NEXUS card expires in April 2021. I’m curious if anyone else had experience with the best way to go about renewing these around the same time. Does it matter which one I do first? Would I need the new Passport first to make the NEXUS renewal easier? Thanks for your help.
