OW reward flight – fixed date (15 October)

OW reward flight – fixed date (15 October)

    Hi Lucky

hoping you can come to the rescue!
I am based in Sydney and am flying to LHR for a friend’s wedding in October. I have bagged an AA J seat on 11 Oct from Syd-SIN-LHR on Qantas and then BA for 85,000 AAdvantage miles, but now I cannot find any reward seats for the return journey – I have to fly on Sunday 15 Oct to get back to Sydney for work.

I have 200k QF points, 85k AA miles, and am Emerald in OW by virtue of being QF platinum so tend to stick to flying with the alliance for those benefits of first class lounge access etc.

can you give me any other insight about how to seek a reward flight? I have been on the BA website to search for availability and it shows nothing, and every time I attempt to book through the AA portal (which shows only first class availability) it freaks out and says the flight is no longer available….

    Oli

AA’s portal doesnt show all partners. Try using QF’s site to search for space on EK or CX. BA’s website will also show awards on CX and QR. You may need to search segment by segment between London and each airline’s hub city and then to Sydney.

You might have to look at more complicated routings as well. Not just through Hong Kong or Doha, but possibly extra connections in Frankfurt, Helsinki, etc.

Travel to Australia is always tough, particularly when you have fixed dates.

look on QF sight through classic awards, also if that doesn’t work try looking up on expert flyer to search for award seats on malaysian or Japan airlines.
PS, the QF site is not too good at putting together routing so try and search a segment at a time if you have to and then call up

    Hey mate,

The following itinerary shows as available on British Airways. You should give Qantas a ring and feed it to them flight by flight.

    Sun 15 Oct
    MH 003 LHR – KUL
    10:25 – 06:45 +1

    Mon 16 Oct
MH 141 and 123 are both available.

The above availability is in business class, although MH 003 also has a First Class seat available if you want to spend all 200k of your QF points (203k, to be exact) and be in First.
