OW benefits on AA Basic Economy

OW benefits on AA Basic Economy

  1. Ben Holz Gold

Just booked a couple of AA Basic Economy flights and was wondering if the typical OW Benefits would apply (OW Sapphire through IB). Mainly interested in priority check-in/ boarding. I’m assuming that regardless of status lounge access won’t be available right? FWIW it’s two one ways, LAX-AUS and DFW-LGA.

Katie of the TPG team had a post earlier this month that indicates you will get some benefits. Scroll towards the bottom of the post:

I don’t think you’ll get lounge access because you’re traveling solely on a North American itinerary: https://www.aa.com/i18n/travel-info/clubs/admirals-club-access.jsp

Thanks @MidSouth Skier! As for the lounge part the link has sort of thrown me off.

Based on it I understand that as long as it’s an AA/OW operated flight I can access the Admirals Club, but it states that “AAdvantage® Executive Platinum, Platinum Pro and Platinum customers traveling solely on North American itineraries don’t qualify”.

Could it be something like the LAX QF F lounge where only non-AA Emeralds are allowed?

Since you’re OW Sapphire thru IB, you get lounge access even on a solely domestic itinerary.

The restriction is only if you have OW status thru American AAdvantage – those members do not get lounge access on a domestic itinerary, whether it’s an AAdmirals Club, or a lounge operated by a partner OW airline.

Great, thanks for the info David!
