So basically, like many that have stumbled upon this blog I have a honeymoon to plan.

We would like to go either to Cancun, or ideally Barbados… Preferably an all inclusive resort. we will be flying out of (PHX) one way is fine as we would like to fly back into (NYC) for new years then back to (PHX) (2017) In all maybe a week of travel total…

My question is what would everyone suggest for cards to apply for? Both hotel and airfare, as I currently don’t have any credit cards that give me any rewards?

My credit is 720, I do have a balance of 4K that I want to pay off this year, as well as use the cards for everyday spending to rack up as much point / miles as possible.

My question is, can I use balance transfers as a means to meet the specific rewards goals?

Also are there any cards with both rewards and an intro rate of 0% ?

    all advice helps, Thanks!!

hi @JAndrews89, congratulations on the upcoming wedding and welcome.

First balance transfers do not accrue any points or miles and rewards credit cards do not usually come with a 0% rate (in fact I think the rates tend to be higher than average). My strong suggestion is that you first use your resources to pay off any balances that you are carrying and paying interest on. If this is for New Years 2016 I think you’ll find that rates are going to be fairly high at this point but if it is for next year you should be able to able to start paying off and then accrue points.

I stayed at the Hyatt Zilara Cancun a few years ago and it was great. Adults only, all inclusive resort, exclusive. Lots of pathways to earn Hyatt points. And AA has nonstop flights from PHX-CUN.
