Needing opinions on flight redemption from CGK>US

Needing opinions on flight redemption from CGK>US

Attempted to ask on FT as well, but here it goes….

Okay, so I am in need of some feedback in regards to my routing on an upcoming F award flight…

I need to get from CGK to somewhere in the US and having a window of +/- 3 days with regards to getting back. I need to get to LAX but don’t mind flying into JFK, IAH, or SFO but obviously prefer the Suites on the A380 (LAX or JFK). I currently am waitlisted on a few separate days for CGK>SIN>FRA>JFK, CGK>SIN>NRT>LAX, and CGK>SIN>ICN>SFO.

I really like the timing of the LAX and JFK routing but not sure if my waitlist will go through since I am about 6 weeks out or so BUT have found open availability on the CGK>SIN>DME>IAH route on a few various days that would work perfectly although it being on the 777 300 I have yet to try the plane with SQ whereas I flew the suites on the a380 from LAX to SIN last month as well as having heard “no so great” reviews on DME route.

So I would like your thoughts on what you might do or recommend, whether I try to wait it out, wait a few weeks to see if I clear and then book the open DME route, or just book the DME route. I keep checking EF and see about 6-8 open F seats on the days and routes I am waitlisted on the a380 but can’t be for sure. Anyways, any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

SQ has some generous change fees and policies regarding awards. I would ticket CGK-SIN-DME-IAH but stay on the waitlist for the other routings. When you clear, switch online!

Good idea!! but would I still be allowed to wait list other awards if my miles are gone due to confirming the CGK>SIN>DME>IAH? I thought I read somewhere that you need enough krisflyer miles in your account to stay on a wait list?

I dont think you do. You need to have enough miles when the waitlist clears before you can ticket though. It wont ticket automatically.

If you feel uncomfortable navigating their website to cancel an existing reservation and ticketing the cleared waitlist, call SQ KrisFlyer and have them handle it. Their fees are very reasonable and will be worth it if when it works out.

Got it! I was able to confirm the CGK>SIN>DME>IAH on my preferred date as well as stay on the waitlist for the others. If one of my waitlists does clear I will probably call them up and have them do the redposit of the miles and booking of the new ticket. Thanks again for the insight!
