MUC-JFK

MUC-JFK

Hey guys, I was planning on traveling to NY on summer and was looking out at different business and first class fares. I found what I thought it was a “good” offer of flying MUC-JFK via ZRH majorly on Swiss’ first class and booking with United for 1931€. Is it actually worth it? Thanks 🙂

I think that’s pretty good and at about $2140USD, it’s in line with cheap business class fares written about on this blog. See if you can find flights operated by LX’s new 77W instead, that’d be a slightly better experience since its a new aircraft for LX

Thanks David I will be having a look right now

@David W I was checking at the Swiss website and their 777-300ERs fly only to SFO and LAX (within the US) and the cheapest I was able to find using Google flights was to LAX for 3441€ (without further flight to JFK). I mean I could technically afford it, but is it actually worth paying +1500€? Nevertheless I have contacted with Swiss to see if they offer future flights to JFK on the B777 and therefore take a decision.

I also had another enquiry. When I fly MUC-ZRH am I allowed to use the Senator Lounge in Munich as I am connecting to a FC flight further on? The same for the back flight, am I allowed to use the First Class Lounge in Zurich (prior to ZRH-MUC) since I came from a FC flight?
Thanks for the help I appreciate it.

Hard product is the same, if I remember correctly, so not worth the premium un this case.

You’ve do get FC linge access in MUC since you have a same day F ticket

You might want to read this, problem is lounge in ZRH. Might be possible to fix it by having the ticket reissued on LX stock just before flight from comments here and on FT.

Oh thanks for the advice! The thing is that if I book it with UA it costs 1900€, while if I book it with LX it will cost me 5000€. I think I would rather pay the 3400 for using the B777 rather than 5k for the lounge. Nevertheless I don’t think I should be complaining, as by looking at other F fares they are out of orbit in comparison to this one.

Is it possible to do something like in the CDG F Lounge where you pay an extra? If not do I get access to at least the Business Class lounge? Thanks for the heads-up.

I meant the AF First Class lounge in Paris.

As said above having UA reissue the ticket on Swiss ticket stock should fix the problem if you already have booked the ticket, also mobile boarding passes from online check-in don’t show the information that the lounge dragons use to kick you out.

Might also be possible to fix the problem from the start if you book on the phone.

From this tread, highly recommend you read this and the link above that I also posted if you are going to book true UA.

You will have J lounge access regardless in ZRH as this is the *A designated partner F lounge, say for UA code share flights. The F lounge in ZRH is technically the HON circle lounge and F passengers are given complimentary access, hence getting around giving partners with F cabins access to the lounge. Same as in MUC and FRA F lounges/terminal.

No such thing as AF F lounge paid access in the LH group system that I know of.

yep I’ve seen a lot of cheap swiss fares booked via UA, for example Cairo to ORD for example is half the price when booked with UA instead of Swiss

While cheaper ticket is part of the reason why people book with UA, the other is that they earn PQD’s on Swiss flight booked that way.

One or two full price/flexible F return ticket and you might just be there for 1K when it comes to PQD’s for the year.
