Moving Sapphire mile to United?

Moving Sapphire mile to United?

1. Jeff Rutherford New Member

Hi, Ben,
I heard there was an advantage to moving Sapphire miles to United for travel? If that’s true, what’s the benefit?
Thank you for your help!
Jeff

You will be able to use them to book award tickets through United. Transfers are usually instantaneous and non-reversible so I wouldn’t transfer until you are ready to use the miles and are sure that availability exists.

Jeff,

I’m not sure what advantage you might have heard about. From experience the transfer is almost instantaneous (a few minutes, if that). It’s a one to one transfer ratio. As @Gaurav points out you can’t change your mind once you’ve done the transfer, so make sure it meets your needs.

I think the only question to ask is if that gets you what you want in terms of travel goals, or if there’s a transfer partner that better fits your goals.

Do you have a Chase Sapphire card, or are you thinking about getting one and doing some research?

Thank you, Ian and Gaurav, for the responses.

I heard rumor the exchange alone might yield more points or miles. We do have a Sapphire card and will hold tight with our miles until the right flight comes along.

Again, thank you.

@Jeff Rutherford There are no current transfer bonuses that I know of. UR transfers to MP miles on 1:1 basis unless you’ve been targeted for something special.
