Trying to understand United’s upgrade priority. I’m wondering which int’l United ticket might have a higher chance of being upgraded:

[*]a mileage award in economy with a request to upgrade to Polaris biz vs
[*]a revenue ticket with a mileage upgrade+co-pay

What method are you using to upgrade option 1? I rarely fly UA, so I am curious. On AA, award tickets are now eligible for upgrades (I am 4 for 4 on award tickets), but I don’t believe AA will upgrade international award tickets (except perhaps for EXP from economy to economy plus).
