Mile saver vs standard award

Mile saver vs standard award

  1. Xfinity New Member

    Good morning!
Yet another newbie question. When/why does AAdvantage decide on some flights being mile save awards, and others being the crazy/exorbitant standard saver awards? Any rhyme or reason-like are the standard saver awards only after cheaper awards are snatched up? Or are they used on super demand flights?
    thanks!

@Xfinity Revenue management is pretty complex but in the end it comes down to how many seats the airline thinks it can sell. For the most part they are only going to release seats that would otherwise go unsold, so yes it is a function of forecasted demand.
