Melbourne from Montreal
I have a business trip in June 2018 that I am planing ahead for. I have to leave from YUL and end up in MEL.
I have access to unlimited aeroplan miles and about 200k SPG points per year. (currently have 104k). Two years ago I did the same trip and got a paid business ticket with SWISS through ZRH and SIN (all upgraded in First) then SIN MEL with Singapore. But if I could get nice flights with points that would be better (more money in my pocket).
What are the best options for business or first? I want to avoid American carriers and even Air Canada for that matter. I don’t mind making more stops to get better flights. I wouldn’t mind stoping in Tokyo for a night or two (sushi pit stop).
Hi Cedric, I’m confused a bit by your question. Is this a business trip that you’re looking for creative routings (but will be paid for in cash, presumably by your employer)? Or, is this a business trip that you’re looking to redeem points for.
Also, I assume you aware that flight schedules for June 2018 aren’t yet available. Sounds like you are just being proactive in planning, but making sure you’re aware!
I would like to avoid having to pay for the ticket (it’s my business so in the end it’s my cash even if my business pays for it) and would rather redeem points.
Also I know you can’t book that fare out, but I want to get some input on possbile routings.
@Cedric Pinsonnault, you have plenty of great options along that route. You can use star alliance awards on Lufthansa, ANA, Thai, Swiss, Singapore etc. and you can transfer SPG points to a plethora of airlines (JAL for EK, AA for EY). I’d look for availability for your preferred dates and decide accordingly.
