MEL Transit…EK F or play it safe with QF J?!
I asked a past question in regards to transit time in Melbourne on separate itineraries a few months ago but now I am second guessing myself…. I arrive in MEL on EK flying in F from AKL @ 740pm and fly out on EY F @1010pm, I have no checked luggage and would just be a transiting pax (will be checked in online already) but have been following recent flight arrivals with EK 407 which seem to be arriving closer to 8pm.
Do you think I am cutting it too close with the EK flight? I have the option to switch to an earlier flight out of AKL on QF but flying J on a 737 which is obviously a huge downgrade but may be the better decision ?
Any opinions or info would be great, as always, I appreciate insight from fellow OMAAT readers!!!
@Levi, I’ve never transited MEL personally but two hours without any checked baggage seems very reasonable to me.
@Gaurav thanks, I really hope so since as of now, I am sticking with that choice….
I have just heard that customs and transit security can be a bit busy but hoping there is some kind of fast track card of sorts from EK and hoping my printed EY F boarding pass gets me in a faster security lane. Was checking flight aware and looks like the EK flight gets to the gate after landing within “give or take 5 mins” which is quite impressive. Hoping to be one of the first off the plane as well to help out…..If it is getting close I guess I could try an information desk of sorts to call EY and let them know I’m on my way (not sure that would do much though)
