Maui Advice

    hi Everyone

Some advice required. I’m United 1k and need to go to Maui for a wedding with my wife in August.

I booked two tickets in economy with miles for 90k total for 2 roundtrips in economy connecting in LA.

I was debating if it would be worth it to buy two tickets via HNL and see if I can use my regional upgrades. The flights are around 950 each. What does everyone think?

    Thanks

Also. The flights would originate in Newark.

That would be a great use of regional upgrades, in my opinion! That’s over 10 hours of flying

Just get worried about it actually clearing. Anyone know which routes I will have the best luck with?

I would think LA to Hawaii would have a better chance, since Newark to LAX is probably much more business heavy with people actually buying biz class seats.

If you have flights you are looking at – United’s app is actually one of the best to see seat maps and loads. Just pull up the flights you are looking at and see how many open seats are available
