Marriott Rewards to SPG Points Transfer

Marriott Rewards to SPG Points Transfer

  1. erik New Member

    Hello!

Ever since committing to SPG and Hyatt stays, there has been no activity on my Marriott Rewards account. My Marriott Rewards balance expires in 6months(I have no plans on utilizing these yet), so I thought…maybe I should transfer my Marriott points to SPG since SPG points never expire.

I read on Marriotts FAQ that:
    – If i transfer Marriott Points to SPG Points, it’ll still expire? but if i transfer SPG points to Marriott points, it’ll never expire? See link below.

    http://members.marriott.com/faq/#if-i-transfer-points-from-my-rewards-account-to-spg-does-it-count-as-activity-against-points-expiration

So say I have 100k SPG points and 30k marriott points. When I convert 30k marriott points to become 10k spg points for a total SPG balance of 110K. Does that mean “10k of my SPG points WILL expire? since they were converted via marriott points?”

Just a little confused reading the FAQs.

What if you just bought something through the Marriott shopping portal to extend their life? Could be something cheap like an iTune.
