marriott points expiration question

marriott points expiration question

  1. Anonymous Guest

my marriott points expire in early march. if i make a booking with points for may 2019 that i don’t plan on actually using, will this extend expiration?

and….most importantly….can i cancel that reservation once my points expiration is possibly extended for another 18 months?

    thanks!

If you’ve got Amex Membership Rewards or Chase Ultimate Rewards, why not just transfer the minimum amount to your Marriott account to extend the life of your points?

thanks for your reply. i don’t have these options. hence my originally posted question.

    thanks,
    rmah

While creating the reservation should extend the life of your points I don’t know what would happen to them if you cancel the reservation later on. I’d look for a cheap local hotel and make a 1-night paid reservation. You’ll have to check in to be able to earn points.
