My wife and I booked our first trip without the kids in to Germany. We’re flying Singapore business over, JFK – FRA (could have booked Suites, but wanted to save the points for trips WITH the kids). On the way back, there was next to nothing available in business for a reasonable number of points. B/c we have a specific date we have to travel back we booked economy on Lufthansa for our return flight using United miles (FRA – JFK). Question is, is there a way to upgrade to Lufthansa business using United miles as well? Thanks

If I understand you correctly you have a United award ticket flying LH Y FRA-JFK that you want to change to J on the same route?

Surely that just involves paying the change fee and the different in miles from Y to J?

If they release space to partners at all it’s typically within 2 weeks of departure. They release more to those booking with points in Miles & More but they also impose fuel surcharges. But keep checking back periodically…

If your original ticket was booked with UA miles, then yes. Verify that space is available and then you should be able to change your ticket online, for a fee. You could also call UA to make the change as well.
