I have a question regarding the Lufthansa upgrade for cash from Economy to Premium Economy. (You wrote about it on January, 2016). I am a miles&bonus gold member (Aegean airlines-Star Alliance) and I have a flight from Rio de Janeiro to Frankfurt where I can upgrade for 299 euros from E to PE.

My initial fare class is K, which gives me 0 status /award miles for Miles&Bonus. If I upgrade to PE the fare class turns to N, which theoretically gives me 100% of miles.

But my question is the following; do I get the status/award miles from the upgrade (N) or do I stick to the 0 earned miles of the old initial fare (K)?

Please advice if you are aware of this issue and if you have used this upgrade so that I decide whether I pay for the upgrade or not.

my question has to do with the earning of status miles from Lufthansa upgrades for cash.
I am having a flight from Rio de Janeiro to Frankfurt on economy class (K) and I can buy an upgrade for PE (N) for 299 euros.

I am a Bonus&Miles Gold Member (Aegean-Star Alliance) and the initial fare (K) gives me 0 status-award miles for this flight, while the PE upgraded fare theoretically gives me 100% of miles.

My question therefore has to do with the miles that I am earning. Since it is not an award upgrade, and I will pay for it, do I get the 0 miles of the initial fare (K), or the 100% miles of the PE fare (N)?
The question regards both status and award miles.

I asked Lufthansa and they said yes, I asked Aegean and they said no. That is confusing. Maybe only miles&more members get the upgraded miles and not the other star alliance members?

Please advise on this if you are aware or if someone else who has experienced a similar situation. Thank you for your help.
