Lufthansa A330 vs UA 747 or 777

Lufthansa A330 vs UA 747 or 777

    Hi guys

Returning from MUC to Tucson via LH MUC-DEN as part of my RTW trip on a newly redone A330 in Business. I could use UA 777 F/C Polaris soft product (the 777 would be via ORD with The new Polaris Club open.

I from trip reports hearing C mediocre on LH with the way seats at as well as catering not that great.

I’m taking Polaris First (soft) on the Outbound 747 to SEL. I’m thinking Polaris nicer (mattress pillows etc) and being the third month of soft product rollout should be ok, and of course the new lounge @ ORD.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks

Welcome @Bobby D. The question is are you flying solo or with someone? In J on LH your in a 2×2 configuration and on UA you can get a solo seat. The verdict is still out on Polaris soft product but you’re correct on the mediocre LH reports. Of course on UA, the global first hard product has been out there for many years and you might get an aircraft that is worn out. Maybe since you are on UA one way take LH the other way?

Flying solo :). I am assigned a center section right aisle seat on LH.

UA was offering Polaris Business via ORD for 57.5k miles Rome-Frankfurt-Denver (both in C) and ORD back to Tucson in Y. Still a good value.

get this… with the around the world all in F or C, UA wants to charge my for Y+ on the CRJ Denver-Tucson….crazy

UA does that and it irks me. I’m flying ANA F NRT-IAH but my domestic connection is in Y, not even Y+. If I want any kind of better seat for that leg I have to get a standard award. Dumb.

UA is horrible with domestic premium availability. Yet their *A partners open tons of space in their respective regions. In any case, both of you have paid for premium class so watch for space to open on any flight within 24 hours of your international arrival / departure. If something opens call and its yours, and there should not be any fee (I haven’t done this since the new fees but assume it shouldn’t be a charge if its the same flight #, a different flight number might be a charge.) If its an overnight then that’s your decision on whether or not to take it.

@Bobby D , if you don’t like your seat you can change it on the Lufthansa app, just get the locator number from United. If you have the UA mobile app its at the bottom of your reservation under “additional information”.

If you weren’t to fly via DEN, it might be better to route via IAH (if there is space of course) the ORD flights are on old 3-class 767s but, the IAH flights have the CO product which is a bit better
