Lifemiles and UA Qn
hi all!! I see some availability from lax to syd on lifemiles in J. If I search Ord to syd there is no j availability but there is availability in economy all the way. Even if I search Ord to lax it won’t show availability in economy on the domestic leg, even though as the one stop route the domestic leg shows up. Even united wants 2 stops if I fly in J, even though the economy can do one leg?! I don’t understand this logic. Or how to get around it?
Now that I think about it a little more I think my bigger and simpler issue is with United.
On a business saver award from Ord to Sydney why do they give the only option as two domestic flights (eg via Omaha to Lax in exconomy) and then the long leg in business from lax to syd….. when if you search an all economy award from Ord to syd it allows a direct economy flight to lax from Ord?
For the month of June nearly every day has two stop j options to Sydney from Ord. But no one stop options.
The lifemiles engine has the same logic but won’t offer the two stop j redemption.
When using partner miles, United does not like to give out domestic business class seats. Several times I’ve made it back to the US in J/F but had to connect to my home airport in economy.
I actually mean the example above when using ua miles.
Ie UA will show Ord -iah or Ord-lax non-stop if using an economy award all the way to Syd.
But if you search on ua for a business award to Syd it will offer no non stop domestic leg (in economy or business) but a one stop domestic connection (still in economy), Ie a worse connection.
Perhaps an eg is better. If I search (on UA) for an economy award from Ord to Syd on June 19 I find plenty of one stop options via lax or Iah.
However if I run this search in business I still find a lot of options with a J leg from lax or iah to Ord but all with 2 leg domestic connections. In economy!!!! Why can’t theu offer the better one leg domestic connection when using more points?
