    Hi all,

I am travelling to LAS via LAX in April on BA from LHR to LAS and then AA from LAX to LAS, all booked direct with BA. Will I be able to check my bags all the way through to LAS from LHR or will we need to go through immigration at LAX collect our bags and then check them again before flying to LAS?

Thanks for your help in advance!
    Sam.

The answer is Yes – you will have to collect your bags at your “port of entry” and clear immigration and customs. Right after you exit customs at LAX there is an AA baggage desk for drop off.

Just to confirm you are BA to LAX (not LAS) and then AA to LAS, right? Your bags should be tagged through to LAS, but you will need to collect them at LAX and clear customs before dropping the bags again.

Sorry you are right I am BA LHR to LAX and then AA LAX to LAS.

Thanks very much for confirming, I had thought that was the case but had hoped not!

    thanks

The United States doesn’t have sterile transit, so the answer to “will I need to collect my bags after an international flight and before my connection” will always be “yes”.
