LH J vs F

LH J vs F

  1. Anonymous Guest

We’re booked BUF-IAD-FRA-MUC in LH J using UA miles. Is it worth it to buy UA miles with the 100% bonus to hopefully upgrade to LH F at the last minute? The miles would cost $1050 plus we have to pay $125 change fee each. Not sure if we have to pay the $75 close-in booking fee since it would be a change. Is it really worth the extra money to fly in F especially since it would be speculating that F for 2 would open up? Spending $1050 would be a waste if we can’t upgrade-we have very little use for UA miles. Also have no other options for getting the additional miles…we are way over the Chase 5/24 rule.

While LH is traditionally very good about releasing F space and it would be a great deal to upgrade, I wouldnt get the miles unless I saw 2 F seats available.

It can also depend on the route and date you’re flying. I learned the hard way that Monday morning flights to the US from Frankfurt don’t always open up seats in First.

yeah, Frankfurt to Boston is the only route I’ve seen Lufthansa First seats on almost 100% of the time
