LH F insurance?

LH F insurance?

Hi! I know experienced miles & points veterans confidently waity for the magical two week window for Lufthansa First Class. Hoping to snag a seat in July through UA MileagePlus. Is it possible / does it make sense to book a transatlantic Business Class seat now as insurance policy and then ‘switch’ if and when LH F opens up? Cheers!

If you must travel that time, then yes. Just be aware that UA charges change fees and a close in fee

Thanks. The close-in booking and change fees are not an issue on account of my status. I was more afraid of losing the carrier surcharge/fee payment (even though UA’s tend to be relatively mild).

Looking at particular US-FRA/MUC route? Many are blocked by UA, July is high season so also LH side has some extra blocks in place. Seats may also sell out as revenue, or elite upgrades.

Yeah, I’m looking at FRA-ORD. Thanks for the heads up. Then it definitely makes sense to have at least something booked and watch out for LH F as uspide.

For LH F in the summer I would always have a backup ticket, unless you have like a week where you can travel any day.

Thanks a lot! Glad I overcame my first post ‘jitters’ 🙂
