LH AB 330-300 vs. 340-600?

LH AB 330-300 vs. 340-600?

  1. Anonymous Guest

I am currently booked on LH 415 IAD-MUC in business (a 330-300), but have the option to fly first in LH 435 ORD-MUC (a 340-600). Any thoughts on which aircraft is better and whether it is worth the extra 40K miles and $100 to make the change?

LH J is kind of meh from what I’ve heard but LH F is pretty great. It’s not the longest of flights, especially heading to Europe so it ultimately depends on how points rich you are

    Hello Cecilia..

By AB I assume you mean Airbus? AB is the airline code for AirBerlin, an Airbus 330-300 would called the A330-300 or just A333 and the A340-600 would be A346.

I would say that it’s worth it to go to F from J on LH since the LH J product (on all their planes) is not the best out there lacking direct aisle access.
    J is in a 2-2-2 config

Do you have a preference as to the actual plane, though? Is the 340-600 better/newer than the 330-300?

Any insight on the plane type itself?

Personally, no. I flew CX’s A330 in Business and thought it was fine. I flew LH F on the A340-600 and thought it was fine as well.

If you don’t travel much or think it’ll be a while before you can experience LH F, go for it. Honestly, I’d try to see if you can flu LH F to Frankfurt, and get a long connection so you can go to the FCT

The A346 and A333 is very similar planes, think the cabin diameter is actually the same. Basically think of the A340 as a stretched 4 engine version of the A330 meant for longer flights.

What matters here is the cabin, not the plane type.

I actually do travel quite a bit to Europe, but usually with my husband and 3 kids, so it is difficult for us to secure F for all 5 of us. Since I am on my own, I thought I would try the first class cabin since it became available. If it is significantly better, I will do it. Thanks!
