LAX connections

LAX connections

I will be arriving @ LAX from SJC at 6:45 PM to catch a flight to Australia that leaves @ 8:15 PM. Poor planning on my part but am wondering how long it takes to get from Terminal 2 or 3 to the International Terminal @ LAX

Welcome @L Schipper – the Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT) is situated between Terminals 3 and 4. So it’s not a terribly long walk either way. However, there’s no post-security connections between those terminals so you’re going to have to re-clear security when you reach TBIT. If you’re on separate tickets you’re in real danger of not being allowed to board as most airlines want your luggage checked 2 hours in advance. Which airline will you be arriving on and which will you be departing on?

The tickets were booked together – first flight from SJC to LAX is Delta and then we transfer to Virgin Australia in LA

OK, so with your luggage checked through that will help. Virgin Australia flights depart out of T3 so you won’t have to walk very far if you land at T2. Unfortunately VA does not participate in TSA PreCheck so you’ll have to go through the old-style security.

I got to thinking and if you bought your tickets through Delta (tickets begin with 006) then you may have PreCheck after all but I’m not sure.
