JNB-BKK via RUN with Air Austral
Hey guys, I am in the look for a one-way flight in business class from JNB and BKK. My dates are quite inflexible and I need to be in BKK the 25th of November the latest. I found a relatively good fare with an airline I never heard about (Air Austral) for around $840. The second cheapest option was QR, but the price is over $1,700. My question is, is the premium worth it? According to Google Flights, the RUN-BKK section is operated by a 787, so I assume the product shouldn’t be too outdated (plus there are flat beds). I have tried to do some research, but I have only came up with very limited to none. Any of you have knowledge on Air Austral, or know where I could get some info from?
Thanks in advance,
Randy
It looks like it is a forward-facing 2-2-2 configuration. For whatever reason, the cheapest option showing on Google Flights is NOT Air Austral but, a combination of Kenya Airways and Etihad for about 1200$. Premium Economy might be a better option here because it is about half the Price (650$) and the Long Haul segment is on an SQ a350
Hey there Hugh I just made a screenshot of the offer from Google flights and for some reason Air Austral appears for me. Nonetheless, is SQ’s Premium Econ. good for a 10h flight? If so I guess it is a pretty good deal for $650 (which seems to be for the 23rd)
Well there aren’t many reviews of Air Austral. But, they took delivery of their 787s in October, so you’ll be on a brand new plane.
For $800 and a lie flat seat on an overnight flight on a brand new plane, I’d take the risk and do it!
Only concern would be transiting Reunion, but I imagine that’s pretty easy since it is such a small airport
