Is Delta pulling out of Brazil and maybe LATAM is taking over the routes?

    Hi Lucky,

I wanted to know what information you have about Delta with respect to Brazil?

Before March 2019, Delta was flying into Sao Paulo from Orlando, Atlanta, Detroit and New York. I believe they were flying into Rio de Janeiro from Atlanta, New York and possibly Orlando or Miami.

Since March 2019, the ceased the Orlando/Miami and Detroit flights. Detroit was supposed to be seasonally offered between November and March and that didn’t happen. Orlando was not supposed to continue.

Now, when I was checking for flights from NY to Rio, that flight is only operating until the first few days of March 2020 and then only from Atlanta can you fly with Delta. It might change to a seasonal flight, probably around November until March (for Christmas, New Years and Carnival).

So do you happen to know why Delta is pulling its’ flights out of Brazil? I know Delta bought a 20% share in LATAM and I read in some of your articles that LATAM already flies out of the USA, so are they going to take over the flights then between the USA and Brazil? I was disappointed when Delta pulled out so many flights from Brazil in 2019, but it seems to be continuing to cut flights.

Let me know what you know!

    Thanks,

    Michal
